Back in May I said to myself that I would blog more and make something of it. However I began to slip in June, yes it didn’t take me long. Life then decided to throw a curve ball right at me, for you see in late July I had to go to hospital and eventually stayed for a total of eighteen whole days.
After almost a year of neglect for this blog, I am back! This time I have been producing, since early April, an infographic and campaign microsite, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the launch of the original Game Boy. The handheld console first came out in Japan, April 21st 1989. It beaten it’s competitor’s by a mile with its simplicity and addictive games.
These two design terms are practices I have always used however the actual terms themselves were not in my knowledge till recently. I came across an article someone posted on Twitter regarding flat design versus skeuomorph design. I was very surprised to learn that adding a texture as part of a background was called skeuomorph design. Much to my pleasure of learning this, it also came to my attention that the application of the term skeuomorph to this type of design was incorrect. Because skeuomorphism applies to physical objects whereas the use of the term in design is for flat, digitised screen elements.
This advertising is for Silver Snail comics which was relocating to a new location and wanted to let their customers know about this. The agency behind the concept, Cheil’s Toronto office, thought that the only way was to communicate it in the way only their customers would know.
The blogging has slipped a little again but no need to fear because I have an update! I completed this brochure design a while back but only had the time recently to mock it up and upload the work on here. The client is called Abkin, a newly established setup services company whose aim is to help businesses new to the location with the setup issues they may face. Giving them more time to focus on their main businesses problems.
Hello everyone,
I thought I will give a small update this week, I began designing a new background and general graphics overhaul for my Twitter account. I wanted something that was new and visually appealing for visitors of my profile.
Today a video was released on Vimeo of the new design for Myspace. The redesign looks amazing from a UI point-of-view, from the grid layout to the use of type. However it does feel like a slight mix of several different layout types rolled into one.
